Perfume is the art that makes memory speaks – Francis Kurkdjian
Do you at times remember something when you hit a familiar smell or fragrance? It is said that the sense of smell is related to our memory and we can actually remember things or associate things with certain smells. We even associate people with certain fragrances they carry. People sometimes remember us with what body mist or perfume we wear. But the irony is that our perfumes don’t even last till noon. We dazzle some drops of our ideal perfume in the morning, only to notice that the fragrance is all gone by noon. If we apply too much then the fragrance becomes a little bit overwhelming to breathe into. So, to make the fragrance last longer without bathing in the perfume, let’s look at some tips on how to apply perfume to make it stay longer.
Choose the right strength
Some perfumes are more concentrated than others and thus can last longer. Invest in the right scent and the right concentration that is suitable for you. Go out and search for the right perfume for you. Perfumes should be measured by quality and not quantity. The more concentrated ones are a bit costlier than the less concentrated ones. Look for the right base note for you and then invest in the one that has a longer shelf life and is also suitable to your persona.
Apply after moisturizing your body
After taking a shower, instead of applying perfume right onto the skin that is just towel-dried, first, moisturize the skin using an unscented lotion or body balm. This makes the skin less dry and softens the skin’s surface and which in return helps in liking the odor more than helps it last longer as the moisturizer will bind the fragrance and helps it stick through the day. Think of moisturizer before perfume as a primer before foundation. To make it last longer than it does use similar or the same scented body wash and lotion.
Do not rub
We usually see people rubbing their applied perfume either on their wrists or on the neck. Rubbing it on the skin is a big no. when you rub your perfume, you cause friction and that breaks down the first note that is responsible for the fragrance and this makes the perfume lose its scent quicker than it would normally. If you cannot apply perfume by spraying it on the surface of the skin then it’s better to dab it gently on the skin rather than rubbing it around. You can use cotton balls to dab the perfume on the body.
Never miss the pulse points
Never miss the pulse points on your body while applying perfume. The common pulse points are – wrists, neck, inner elbows, and back of knees. Spray perfume on these pulse points and see how much wonders this can do. Perfumes generally react to warmth. These pulse points are the ones that heat up more than other parts of the body during the day thus applying the perfume on these parts makes it release the scent more. During the day your body heat will help the perfume release the fragrance more than it would when applied to other parts of the body. An important point to remember is that before spraying it never shakes the body as it may lead to penetration of air into the bottle and cause the perfume to lose its scent.
Use a hairbrush
People spray perfumes directly onto their hair. Instead, you can spray the perfume onto the hairbrush or the comb you use and use that on your hair. Using perfume directly may damage your hair because of the composition of the perfume. Or you can use hair products of the similar or same odor. The hair products last longer and can get you through your day without losing the scent.
Never waste a drop of your perfume. You can also spray some on your clothes and have the fragrance in your wardrobe. Use the tips giving above and get through the day smelling absolutely gorgeous and let people remember you and associate you with your favorite perfume.
