Tips to prevent your eyelash extensions from getting damaged

Posted on April 29, 2020August 4, 2021

Whether it’s fake eyelashes or fake nails, things have become a lot easier these days. Getting fake eyelashes is one of the trends that have been gaining more and more popularity and is becoming many women’s easy way to make their eyes look more defined and beautiful. Eyelashes surely work quite amazingly for our looks which is why when given the chance we can make them look the way we have always wished to have. Not only they help to add more volume to your natural lashes but they also save you from all the hassle that you have to face while applying mascara to your natural lashes. While these fake lashes is the easier way to get those beautiful eyes of your dreams but it takes more than care and precautions to keep them in place and intact all the time. They usually last for about a month if you keep getting them touched up every two or three weeks, but if you aren’t careful enough you can end up damaging them.

To make sure that your eyelash extension stays in place all the time and doesn’t get damaged, take note of these 4 tips that will make it easier for you to take care of your eyelash extensions.

Use oil-free makeup and skincare products

The last thing you would want to do is subjecting your eyelash extension to oily skincare and makeup products. To make sure that your eyelash extensions stay in best and good shape, keep them away from all things oily. Whether it’s a makeup remover or cleansers, make sure that it doesn’t have oil in it. Just in case, you end up using any of such products, your eyelashes will start shedding or slide off sooner than expected. Therefore, look for products that are oil-free and you will be good to go.

A big no-no to waterproof makeup

While waterproof makeup is any girls’ savior especially during days when you have to wear it for a long time but it can be the worst enemy of your eyelash extensions. We all know that removing waterproof makeup is a really difficult task and rubbing your face and eyes vigorously to remove all the makeup is a big no-no. Doing so will not only make your skin dry and age prematurely but it will also damage your eyelash extension which isn’t something you would like to happen. Therefore, we would advise you to keep waterproof makeup at bay and instead use the products that are easy to remove.

Don’t wear mascara

Applying mascara on your eyelash extensions is going to be of no use when you already have got those dreamy, fuller and luscious lashes. In fact, adding coats of mascara on the extensions is going to clump them together which can further weaken the lash glue, making it easier for the lashes to slide off. Therefore, you should strictly avoid wearing mascara when you have got eyelash extensions. If you still want to go ahead with it, you can apply it to your lower lashes to intensify your eyes and make them look more dramatic. Just make sure that the mascara you are using is oil-free. To keep your eyelash extension manageable all the time, comb them gently with the help of a spoolie as it will help to keep them from getting tangled.

Pick the eyeshadow carefully

Eyeshadow holds an equal potential to damage your eyelash extensions like any other reason. You will have to be extremely careful with what eyeshadow you are picking to apply. When it comes to your eyes, it’s important for you to ensure that all the eye makeup products you are using aren’t damaging for your eyelash extensions. Using glitter or sparkle eyeshadow holds the tendency to irritate your eyelids, also, excess eyeshadow powder can get trapped inside your extensions which can further loosen them up and make them slide off.
