You all have mastered the art of applying foundation or contouring your face. But, least of you know the correct way to prep your skin for the makeup application. When you prep your skin for the makeup application it’s different from the regular routine of skin prepping.
For makeup application, your skin should be hydrated really well so that the makeup glides on like butter and there is no patchiness thereon. If you want to know the correct way to prep your skin for the makeup application, well then keep on reading!
Start With Clean Skin
We all know the first step has to be skin cleansing. It’s really important to start with clean and dry skin. Whether you’re applying a serum or moisturizer it has to be applied on clean skin. Always use a mild cleanser that doesn’t dry out your skin. And, use cold water to rinse your face.
After you have rinsed your face apply a toner. Toner ensures your skin is thoroughly cleansed for the following steps. Use a non-alcohol based toner that doesn’t irritate your skin. If you have large open pores toner is a must.
Apply Sheet Mask
The purpose of skin prepping before makeup application is to give full nourishment to the skin so that the makeup products you’ll be using glides smoothly without turning out patchy and you don’t have trouble while blending the makeup.
One, you have applied toner to the skin; the next step has to apply a sheet mask. The sheet mask will provide hydration to the skin and add a natural glow to the skin.
There are various sheet masks available so choose according to your skin type. If you have oily skin we would suggest opting a green tea or tea tree-based sheet mask and if you have dry skin opt for hyaluronic acid-infused sheet masks.
Apply Face Serum
After keeping the sheet mask for about 15-20 minutes, take off the sheet mask, and massage the leftover gel onto the skin. Once, the gel sinks into the skin, apply face serum.
Now, the majority of us don’t know the correct way to apply face serum. Woman generally massages the face serum onto the skin instead the face serum has to be patted onto the skin and not massaged. Also, choosing the right face serum is really important.
Face Oil
If you have super dry skin, applying face oil is really important especially before the makeup application. Otherwise, the makeup won’t blend properly. Use light-weight face oil that blends into the skin quickly providing a smooth and hydrated face for the base.
We won’t recommend oily skin to apply face oil, especially during summers. However, if you feel you can apply light-weight face oil during winters.
Moisturizer
Even if you have oily skin, you can’t skip applying moisturizer to the skin. Apply a moisturizer before makeup application so that the face is hydrated and everything you applied before gets locked into the skin.
Make sure you use a light-weight and non-comedogenic face moisturizer.
Primer
After waiting for 20 seconds, the next step has to be the face primer. Well, we have not counted a primer into makeup and for us, it’s the step of skin prepping before makeup application.
Primer is a must and ensures your makeup stays for a long time. If you have open pores we would suggest you should use a pore minimizing primer. Take a pea-sized amount and apply it to the sides of the nose and on the t-zone.
So, this is the correct way to prep your skin for the makeup application. We hope the feed turns out to be a great help!
